We have been teaching knitting on a one on one basis but think that being in a class setting with others who are fumbling around and trying to learn is really more fun. Therefore, we plan to teach a learn to knit class on Saturdays from 3:00 to 4:00 every week in January. If you are interested, come on in. We will teach you how to cast on, knit and purl. The class size will be limited. So, please call ahead to see if there is room for you. You can come to every class or just one. We will work on knitting and fixing your problems for a whole hour. Cost for this class is $40.
Finishing class
We imagine that the best way to learn how to finish is to have something to finish. Therefore, we will hold two classes to create a project and then to finish it in the same way that you would finish a sweater or any other fine garment. Our first class will meet for one hour, and the second class will meet for two hours. We will knit a small bag and in the process give the bag a little sparkle by learning intarsia (where you can knit a letter or a small picture into the bag) and then finishing the bag. The first class will just be getting started, the second class will have a lot of content. How to do the two needle bind-off, how to use the mattress stitch to close a seam, how to make a cord (an i-cord or a twisted cord) to close the bag, how to crochet an edge on the bag (if you like). I am planning to hold the classes January 10th and 17th at noon. The cost to learn all this and have all this fun is $50. Some of the bags from older classes are below:
